Authorized Payers

Students are able to designate someone, such as a parent, guardian or spouse, as an authorized payer.

In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (as amended) your educational records and your student account information may not be released to a third party (e.g. your spouse, parents, or sponsor) without your written permission. By creating an authorized payer, you are giving written consent for that individual to view your account information and to make payments towards your account. In addition, you are authorizing the University at Buffalo to discuss your account information with the authorized payer.

Authorized Payers are able to:
  • View and pay your student’s eBills online (credit card or eCheck)
  • View transaction history (only transactions made by authorized payer)
  • Enroll in a payment plan
  • Enroll in direct deposit of Parent PLUS Loan refunds

Process for Adding an Authorized Payer

To designate an authorized payer:
  1. Students can set up authorized payers by logging into their HUB Student Center.
  2. Click on Billing / Payments.
  3. Click on Payment Options. You will then be brought into QuikPAY.
  4. Click on Authorize Payers in the menu. The student will need to input the name(s) of the individual(s) being granted access. The student will also assign a login name for the authorized payer.

An email will be sent to the authorized payer with their login and a link to set their password. Only students can add or delete authorized payers.
